How does it Work?
The Magic of Music covers an extremely broad range of musical genres, music teaching  philosophies  and music theory. Each topic is taught using various methods such as art, drama, dance, listening skills, percussion instruments, singing and composing. These topics are run as a curriculum so some of the topics would be covered in year 6 of the programme while others would be covered in year one.
Things like the theory of music and seasonal music would obviously be covered throughout each module in conjunction with the material the class were doing
.

Below is an example of some of the modules touched on
in the course.
The History of African music to the development of Rap
The History of Rock and Roll
The History of Caribbean Music
A study of the Instruments of the Orchestra
Seasonal Music
Theory of Music
Sounds around us
Rhythm and African Drumming
A study of World music through the ages
Country music through the ages
Classical music and the composers
Composition made easy
The Music of South America (including Samba drum workshops with a full class set of samba drums)

We have been highly impressed with ‘The Magic of Music’ programme. It is very helpful for busy teachers as it covers all the strands of the Revised Primary School Music Curriculum and we receive detailed lesson notes weekly. The classes are both fun and educational and have a particularly innovative use of modern music. Gillian’s enthusiastic and energetic style ensures that all the children participate fully and increase their knowledge and appreciation of music.
