Curriculum Alignment

The course is based on the New Revised Primary Music curriculum guidelines and caters for children of all age groups. The course is packed with exciting, fun, practical exercises which allow children to really enjoy and value all types of music and to encourage their creativity and performance skills. The main aim of the Magic of Music at all times is to make children laugh, smile and really enjoy themselves while they are learning many new concepts. It provides children with an experience of music that they are guaranteed to carry with them throughout their life.

  2. The Instruments of the Orchestra
  3. Listening and Responding – The Carnival of Animals, Peter and the Wolf, Pictures at an Exhibition, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and more!
  4. The Composers - A detailed look at the life of some of the more famous composer’s and their works 
  5. Music Literacy – Rhythm and Melody 
  6. Singing 
  7. Performing

Kildare Education Support Centre

This exciting online music summer course has been running for the last 20 years and is based on 29 years of hands on classroom experience with children of all ages and abilities. This course provides practical, enjoyable and easy to follow modules with links to live Magic of Music lessons and other relevant material.

All materials can be adapted to various age levels and will leave you with a wealth musical ideas an seasonal material which will take you from September to June. Every strand of the curriculum is explored in each module with special emphasis on Composition and Music Literacy.

Catherine has extensive experience in the Special School setting and offers ideas as to how to adapt any of the lesson plans upon request.
